Transfer procedures, deadlines and acceptance of transfer course work varies by institution.
Therefore, you should meet early and often with your SWIC counselor as well as a counselor at each transfer institution you are considering.

Illinois Articulation Initiative
Southwestern Illinois College is a participant in the Illinois Articulation Initiative (IAI), a statewide agreement that facilitates transfer of the completed Illinois Transferable General Education Core Curriculum between participating institutions. Completion of the General Education Core Curriculum at any participating college or university in Illinois assures transferring students that lower-division general education requirements for an associate or bachelor's degree have been satisfied. The IAI agreement is in effect for students entering as a first-time freshman in summer 1998 and thereafter.
Students planning to transfer should see a SWIC Counselor for more information. A database of IAI articulated courses at each participating institution can be found at www.iTransfer.org.
Many transfer institutions provide transfer guides to assist students in selecting course work in preparation for transfer.
- Transfer guides are only GUIDES. They should be used with your SWIC Counselor to ensure that you are meeting SWIC graduation requirements as well as preparing for the requirements of your transfer institution(s) and future major.
- Transfer guides are NOT contracts or guarantees. Transfer institutions reserve the right to change information without notice when necessary.
- Transfer guides are NOT available at all institutions and in all majors.
You may also request transfer materials directly from the transfer institution's Office of Admissions and your major's academic department.

Students who fulfill the requirements of their dual admission agreement are guaranteed acceptance into their intended college/university with full junior status. Please note, however, that while acceptance to a particular college/university is guaranteed, acceptance into a specific program will vary based on departmental requirements.
