The Belleville Campus Financial Aid Office Is Moving...Temporarily

The Belleville Financial Aid and Student Employment/PALS office in the Information Sciences Building, Room 1035, is being restructured to better serve our student population. Financial Aid and PALS will be fully functional during this transition. The office's new location will remain in the Information Sciences Building but on the opposite end of the first floor hallway. Students will be served at the new location for the remainder of the fall 2014 semester.

Oct. 6 - Dec. 15: The Financial Aid/PALS office will move to ISB Room 1145 (the former Success Center) during construction.  We will be relocating to ISB Room 1035 when construction is complete.

Financial Aid and Academic Advisor

The Financial Aid Office will only pay for classes that are required for a student's declared program(s) of study. We are strongly encouraging students to log into their eSTORM Student Center to confirm their program(s) of study and run a Student Advisement Report to review their classes and determine which classes are needed to complete their program(s).

Spring 2015

Campus bookstore hours: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Alternative loans: Funds from the lender must be received by Financial Aid the week of disbursement.

Eligible Credit Hour Enrollment Classification

Eligibility is based on a student's number of credit hours during a given term. Only credit hours needed to complete a financial aid eligible program are considered in classification. The chart below details enrollment classification for financial aid purposes:

Prior to completing any of the following, students should review the To Do List in their eSTORM Student Center to ensure that the correct forms are printed.

Financial Aid Eligibility for SWIC Certificates

To be considered for financial aid, a student must be in an eligible program. All associate degrees except Massage Therapy (027B) and Construction Carpentry (039G) are eligible. Not all certificates are eligible. Check certificate eligibility.

Foundation Scholarships

Learn how to apply for the privately funded scholarships available only to SWIC students through the SWIC Foundation.

Apply for Federal and State Financial Aid

Apply for federal and state financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at fafsa.ed.gov. The school code for SWIC is 001636. You can pick up a worksheet at the SWIC Financial Aid and Student Employment Office or from high school guidance counselors. You need to complete the FAFSA for each academic year.

Assistance with the FAFSA is available at SWIC through PALS.

Loan Entrance Counseling and Federal Direct MPN

SWIC participates in the Direct Loan Program.  All students must complete a Loan Entrance Interview for Direct Loans and a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN). Visit studentloans.gov and complete the steps noted as "Entrance Counseling" and "Sign Master Promissory Note."

Students may also borrow through the Alternative Loan Program.

Loan Exit Counseling

Student loan borrowers who drop below six hours per term or are no longer enrolled must complete Exit Counseling. Students can complete Loan Exit Counseling online.
