All applications for posted positions at Southwestern Illinois College, and certain application attachments for positions, must be submitted through our online recruitment process. For positions requiring an academic degree, official transcripts must be sent to the SWIC Office of Human Resources, MC 3304, 2500 Carlyle Ave., Belleville, IL 62221. Unopened official transcripts may also be hand-delivered to the hiring manager at the time of an interview.

The online recruitment process is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Browser compatibility

The Southwestern Illinois College job website is designed to run in several web browsers. We recommend using Chrome or Firefox.

Logging in

External applicants need to create a user name and password during account creation.

Change password

  1. Log into your account
  2. Click My Account Information
  3. Click the Change Password link

Forgot user name and/or password

If you have problems logging into the Southwestern Illinois College Jobs website, you can click on the Forgot User Name or Forgot Password links on the Sign In page.

Timed out while applying

The system will automatically time you out after 60 minutes if there is no activity while you are submitting an application. Should you be timed out, log back in and select the My Job Applications to continue.

Using browser BACK and FORWARD buttons

You should avoid using your browser BACK and FORWARD buttons while completing your job application. You may use the Previous and Next links located toward the top of most pages.

Error message will not allow me to see the page

First, we recommend that you access the application using Chrome or Firefox. Finally, if you still cannot access the application, please contact the Human Resources office at 618-235-2700, ext. 5533.

Running multiple sessions of browser

We recommend that you limit your web browser session to ONE. If at any point, a second web browser session is opened, close it once you complete your task.

Bookmark SWIC Jobs

We recommend that you bookmark the Human Resources page that contains the link to the job posting. Do not bookmark any page that follows the log in.

Data security

All data submitted via this site is secure and encrypted.

Open until filled designation

If an application deadline is listed as open until filled, a department is accepting applications until the position is filled, and the vacancy may close without notice. If you have interest in a position, it is highly recommended that you apply soon after seeing the announcement.

Apply for more than one job at a time

A separate application needs to be submitted for each individual position for which you wish to apply. Be sure to review your information before submitting each application as not all of your information carries over from one application to the next.

Partially complete application and finish later

You may complete parts of the application process and come back to it later. You must click the Save button to save the information you have entered. If you close your browser prior to clicking the Save button, your application data will be lost. Your account information will be saved.

Attach resume, cover letter or other documents

You may attach supporting documents, i.e certifications and/or transcripts by going to your Careers page and selecting the arrow for My Job Applications. The online application system supports common word processing software file types, as well as .pdf file types. The application system does not support Google Docs.

Attached wrong document

You may change your attachments as long as that application has not been submitted. For cover letters and other attachments, you may revise or delete them at any time; however, once the search has begun, revisions may or may not be seen by the hiring committee.

Entering contact method in profile information

We recommend that the Contact Method field be set to Email field and that you provide a valid email address. SWIC sends notifications and other communications to applicants using the email address provided.

Due date

All applications must be submitted via the online application no later than 4 p.m. CST on the closing date for the position. Applications cannot be submitted after a closing date has passed. Application deadlines or review dates are on each job posting.

Receipt of my application

Once you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email within a few hours. If you do not receive a confirmation email after a few hours, check your spam or junk folder. Some email accounts read generated emails as spam and filter them out of your inbox. Also, logging in to your SWIC Jobs site and clicking the My Job Applications arrow that will display the status of the job for which you have just applied. The status will read Submitted if you have successfully applied to the job posting.

Frequency of updating application packet

Every time you apply for a position, you should review your existing application. Many applicants prefer to tailor their resume, cover letter, application, etc. for each vacancy for which they apply. To update your application, simply customize the information as you apply for your next job.

Apply for no specific posted job vacancy

Southwestern Illinois College only accepts applications for open job postings. Prior to applying for a job, each prospective applicant can create a profile that will reduce the amount of data entry when you do actually apply for an open position.

Check status of a position

Jobs are removed as they are filled or on the date specified in the Job Announcement. If a job is, or was, listed on our website, you are able to view the status of the recruitment process as Open, Under Review, Interviewing or Closed/Filled (if closed/filled within the last 60 days) by clicking the Status of Job Openings link on the Staff and Management Employment Opportunities page.

Interview timing

The department conducting the search will notify applicants if they are selected for an interview. The time varies depending on the department conducting the search.

Reference checks

They are generally checked after the interview process.

Consideration for other positions

You will only be considered for the position(s) for which you submit an application. If you would like to be considered for other available positions, you will need to submit your application for each position.
