Residency Information

In-District

Individuals who have lived in the district for at least 30 days prior to enrolling are considered in-district residents. Students new to Southwestern and those changing from an out-of-district to an in-district address will be required to provide proof of residency within 14 days of enrolling. Residency may be validated by evidence of occupancy of a dwelling in the college district in the form of a voter registration card, real estate tax bill, utility receipt, driver's license or automobile license registration.

Click here for a list of in-district cities.

Out-of-District

A student who is living outside District 522, is a resident of the State of Illinois and does not attend Southwestern under the terms of a joint agreement or chargeback agreement will be designated an out-of-district student and will be charged the appropriate tuition.

Joint Agreements/Chargebacks

Out-of-district students who attend Southwestern under the terms of a joint agreement between Southwestern and another community college district or for whom chargeback authorization has been given by the student's home district will be charged in-district tuition.

Employer In-District

Out-of-district students who receive training from, and are employed by, an industry within District 522 may qualify for in-district rates. The required form may be obtained by the Enrollment Services office or by clicking here (Acrobat PDF File). The employer must complete a new form each semester.

Out-of-State

Any student who is a resident of another state or country will be considered an out-of-state student and will be charged the appropriate tuition. International students who have been issued an I-20 to attend Southwestern are not eligible for in-district tuition rates.
