As part of The Corporation for National Service, a national service initiative where participants receive a living allowance and educational award in return for service to the community, Belleville AmeriCorps strives to support neighborhood and school efforts to strengthen the community of Belleville.
Program Goals
- To provide positive recreational and enrichment activities for youth in the after-school and summer hours.
- To increase youth academic success in school.
- To promote computer literacy in adults and children.
- To strengthen FNCA & ALNA neighborhoods through housing renovation, crime prevention and neighborhood beautification programs.
- To encourage volunteerism in community youth and adults.
Who makes up the Belleville AmeriCorps team?
Members must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national or a lawful permanent resident alien of the United States, be at least 17 years of age, with a high school diploma or GED or agree to obtain one while serving. There is no upper age limit. Members do not have to live in the city of Belleville. The program is searching for people who are self-motivated, enjoy working with people and are open to new experiences!
