College for Kids

The College for Kids program is an educational enrichment program for children from kindergarten to eighth grade. The courses are designed to provide participants with unique and enjoyable educational, cultural and recreational activities, which are different in form and content from regular classroom activities. Course selection is based on the current 2008-2009 school year grade level.

Registration

3 ways! Phone, mail-in, walk-in. Register Early! Class sizes are limited! Payment required at time of registration.

Phone: Just call 800-222-5131 or 618-235-2700, ext. 5393 or 5618. Simple and convenient! Payment by credit card (MasterCard, VISA, or Discover) required.

Mail-in: Complete the registration form and mail to Southwestern Illinois College, Community Education, 2500 Carlyle Avenue, Belleville, IL 62221. If you need additional registration forms, please call the number listed above. Payment by check, credit card, or money order required.

Walk-in: Belleville Campus, Information Sciences Building, Second Floor, Community Education, Room 2030

Hours: Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.,
Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Spaces will be reserved on a first come, first serve basis. Classes, which do not meet minimum enrollment, will be canceled and reimbursement will be made in full.

Confirmation Policy

A confirmation notice will be sent one week prior to the start date of the class. Room assignments and any other necessary information will also be provided at this time.

Cancellation Policy

You will be notified at least three days prior to the class if it has been canceled due to insufficient enrollment. Please make sure a daytime phone number is included on the registration form.

Refund Policy

Refunds will NOT be issued after registration has been confirmed. Full refunds will be issued for canceled classes.

Eligibility

Classes are designed for participants who have COMPLETED the grade level indicated. Course selection is based on the current 2008-2009 school year grade level.

Participant Rights and Conduct

Participants will be expected to adhere to Southwestern Illinois College’s Student Rights and Conduct Code. No refunds will be issued for dismissal from the program for violation of the Conduct Code.

Fees

Course fees include the cost of supplies.

Participant Late Pickup Fee

Participants not picked up from morning classes by 11:45 a.m. or from afternoon classes by 4:15 p.m. will be taken to the Community Education Office in the Information Sciences Building, room 2030. A late pick up fee of $1 per each minute late will be charged per participant.

Child Care

Child care is available for College for Kids participants at the Belleville Campus only. Register and make payment through Kid’s Club, 618-235-2700 ext. 5543 for the following time frames: Monday through Thursday 7:30-8:00 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 11:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Cost per child is $3.85 per hour. Participants must be enrolled in College for Kids to use these services. Child care is not available on Fridays.

Participants on campus during the 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. lunch break must be supervised by a parent or guardian or enrolled in child care. Child Care (Belleville Campus Only!)
