Under the Copyright Laws of the United States (Title 17, United States Code), the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (HR 2281) and the Copyright Term Extension Act (S 505), unlawful copies of copyrighted materials may not be produced on Southwestern Illinois College equipment. Unlawful copies of copyrighted materials include, but ARE NOT limited to:
- CDs or DVDs
- Video and/or audio reproduction
- Computer software/programs including digital and Internet electronic works
- Cable/satellite or off-air programming
- Publications that are copyrighted to protect the rights of the owner and/or author.
Under certain conditions specified within the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction when verification is supplied.
