The legacy program is a 7 week program for first generation college students. The goal of this Program is to assist you, the student, in building an educational legacy in your family. More >> 

Membership Benefits

• Orientation Banquet: The banquet is free to the student and two guests.
• Success Kit: The kit comes with complimentary school supplies.
• Peer Mentor: Mentors will assist with daily college life problems.
• Counseling Services: Students will have an opportunity to interact with counselors on a formal and informal basis through program events and activities.
• Speaker: Speakers will encourage, motivate, and inform.
• Early Registration: Participants will be eligible for early enrollment.
• Free Educational Workshops: Light snacks will be served.
• Students that complete four workshops will receive a $50 Barnes and Noble book voucher.

Goals of the Legacy Program are to:

• Provide academic support and personal guidance to students which will enable them to better understand the challenges of college and enhance their opportunities for success.
• Develop strong, positive identification with the college through interaction with successful SWIC students.
• Provide guidance that will enable students to function more effectively during their college careers.
• Assist in the orientation of students to college services, programs and activities.
• Increase awareness and usage of the student support services at the college.
• Foster a positive self-image by providing encouragement to the student.
