AA/AFA/AS/AAS Degree Requirements
A student may count a maximum of sixteen semester hours of telecourses toward degree requirements for graduation and must complete at least one non-telecourse in each general education degree requirement.
Competency Requirements
Math and English Placement assessment scores and completion of developmental education requirements apply to distance learning courses. See the current college catalog or a counselor for further details. All students must meet the prerequisite(s) associated with distance learning courses. If you have taken the prerequiste(s) at another institution, you must have your transcript evaluated by the Counseling Office or by the Records Department prior to registering for a course. If you fail to meet the prerequisite(s), it may result in the institution dropping you from the course.
Credit Transferability
In general, distance learning courses are considered equivalent to traditional campus counterparts. Students are advised to contact the counseling office or the college they plan to transfer to for credit transferability.
Veterans Services
Any student eligible for Federal G.I. benefits should contact the Veterans Services Office for certification of benefits for distance learning courses.
Financial Aid
Most regular and PACE telecourses are eligible for funding from the following types of financial aid: PELL Grant, SEOG Grant, ISAC MAP Grant, student loans, and Federal Work Study. Most scholarships will also pay for telecourses.
IMPORTANT
All telecourses are eligible for financial aid. However, students
who are enrolled solely in telecourses may have a reduction in their
cost of attendance and financial aid. Pell grants will not be
increased for courses added after the 14th of the official start
date of regular (not Saturday) classes.
Please contact the financial aid office for certification of benefits and/or more information on distance learning courses.
Textbooks
Students are responsible for obtaining textbook material which may be purchased at the college bookstore. Textbooks are not included in the price of the course. Textbooks for on-campus classes and some distance learning courses may differ; therefore, it is important that you purchase the proper book(s).
Examinations/On-Campus Sessions
On campus attendance is required for exams and events as assigned by telecourses instructors.
The exams are administered by the instructor or a testing proctor. Exam details are listed on the telecourse schedule.
If accommodations for a disability are needed, please contact the distance learning office promptly following registration.
