The HCCTP is a unique skills training course that also includes mathematics and reading development. This program, offered at the East St. Louis Community College Center, was developed jointly through SWIC's Construction Management Technology program and the Adult Basic Education department. The program is sponsored by The Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Community College Board, and Southwestern Illinois Community College and does not guarantee employment.
Classes are 12 weeks in length and run year-round, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The mission of the HCCTP is to increase minority and female participation in the construction trades. It will provide students with entry-level construction skills as well as mathematics and reading skills.
To be eligible for the free HCCTP, you must:
- be at least 18-years-old
- attain the minimum score requirement on math and reading assessments
- pass the interview process
- pass the drug-screening test
- have a GED or high school diploma and a valid Illinois driver's license
