Rumble Rumble Boom Boom: Groundbreaking Ideas of People and Planet

Is nature a mother, a victim or a destroyer? Can we control nature? Does nature need saving? Recent arguments about oil drilling and global warming echo age-old complexities in the relationship between humans and nature. Because our culture's view of nature is intricately linked with science, this learning community will use both philosophy and science to probe peoples' views of nature. We'll trace how these views have evolved since times of the Ancient Greeks, and how they play out in light of present societal woes.
