Reciprocal Borrowing
What is reciprocal borrowing?
When you are allowed to check out materials from a library other than your home library, it is call reciprocal borrowing. Reciprocal borrowing is made possible through cooperative arrangements among participating libraries. In this case, the libraries are members of the Southern Illinois Learning Resources Cooperative or SILRC (pronounced SIL - ROCK).
What will you need?
- Photo Identification
- Valid library card from a participating member.
- The "home" library must be open at the time you are registering so that a phone verification by the "host" can be completed.
- Record in good standing at the "home" library
- Current class list (registration)
What are your responsibilities?
- Return borrowed materials on or before the due date.
- Return materials directly to the "host" library.
- Abide by the rules set by the "host" library
Definitions
Home Library - The SILRC member library where the student is enrolled.
Host Library - The SILRC member library lending materials to individuals from other participating SILRC institutions.
ATTENTION: The "host" library reserves the right to restrict the types and number of items borrowed by a student using reciprocal borrowing.
