With the growing interest in recording engineering and music technology, SWIC is offering two new programs: the Associate of Applied Science in Music Technology and the Certificate in Recording Technology.
Associate of Applied Science in Music Technology
This two-year program focuses on the skills necessary to pursue careers in commercial music fields.

- Plus an internship at a commercial recording studio, radio station or other appropriate venue
Certificate in Recording Technology
This six-course program is designed for students interested learning musical and recording engineering skills. The certificate currently includes six core courses in digital recording and music theory.

Music and Recording Transfer electives
Students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university may enroll in music technology program courses as electives, particularly if they are pursuing a degree in music business or audio engineering.
Study in state-of-the-art studio and lab
Both programs are supported with a recording studio and music computer lab at the Belleville Campus.

Hands-on study start to finish
Students in both programs will have the chance to track, edit and mix an entire project.
Computer music survey courses
These courses focus on MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) and software programs, such as Native Instruments Komplete, Reason and Finale, used in top studios. Students will learn design, sampling and composition.
