Mondays, 2 - 4 p.m.

Pronounced "we", this home video game is a fun way to get together with your friends and play baseball, golf, bowling, etc. by using a hand-held remote and television screen. You'll get a little stretching exercise and a lot of fun when playing. After a little practice, you'll even be able to impress your kids and grandkids with your knowledge when they talk about their Wii! The game and flat-screen television are located in the Activity Room, lower level, at PSOP. For more information, call 618-234-4410, ext. 7016.

We begin with a driving tour of the University of Missouri-Columbia as we learn the history and architecture and see the rare books collection at the library. After a BBQ Chicken lunch at Addison's Restaurant we visit the World-Famous Budweiser Clydesdales breeding facility, Warm Springs Ranch for a behind the scenes walking tour where more than 100 horses live. Please join us to commemorate liberation day for Ben Fainer, a holocaust survivor and author of the book titled "Silent For Sixty Years". Ben was shuttled between six separate concentration camps over a six year period, and liberated by American soldiers at 10 a.m. on April 23, 1945, in Cham, Germany. Retired Navy Chief R.J. "Spice up" your day with a visit to Penzey's Spices and finish the day with a famous root beer float at Fitz's while watching the bottling process. Our lunch of salad, soup and turkey club sandwich is at Schlafly, the second largest brewery in St. Louis! Cost is $87 per person. Linda Koenig takes us to the one time religious, governmental, and cultural centers of the LDS (Mormon) Church from 1839 to 1846. View the temple, blacksmith shop, gun shop, bakery, and much more. Afterwards we visit the oldest winery in Illinois for a sample. Cost is $89 per person. Pick-up point is the Schnuck's on North Belt West at 6:30 a.m. then the Alton Holiday Inn at 7:30 a.m. Return will be about 7:45 p.m. to Alton and 8:45 in Belleville.

This spirited show recreates one of the famous "Summit at the Sands" nights when swingin', ring-a-ding group known as "THE RAT PACK" was creating hipster legend with a free-wheeling, no-holds-barred nightclub act starring Vegas' four favorite sons: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin and Joey Bishop. Cost is $97 and includes a show ticket, a wonderful lunch at the Fox Theatre before the matinee and motorcoach transportation. Pick-up is 11 a.m. at Schnuck's on North Belt West in Belleville.

We have a fascinating history tour of the "Alcatraz of the Midwest" - the Missouri State Penitentiary - which was used from 1836 until 2004 (yes, they have a small gift shop!). After lunch at Prison Brews Restaurant, we tour the brand new Missouri State Capital which was voted the "Most Beautiful Interior" of all 50 capitol buildings (make sure to look for sea creatures in the walls/floors as well as the many Thomas Hart Benton paintings). Betsy Murphy will be our guide today. Cost is $91 per person. Pick-up point is the Schnuck's on North Belt West at 7:15 a.m. Return will be about 7:30 p.m.

We are making some changes to provide everyone with a fair opportunity to sign up for trips, avoid empty seats and keep trips affordable.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2014 - To make a reservation for a day trip, dial the extension listed with the trip description. The recording will ask you to give your name and phone number, the date and name of the trip, and the names of people you are making reservations for. You will then be given seven working days to complete the registration form in the PSOP newsletter and mail it or bring it to the Activities & Travel office along with your payment. Any payment not received within seven days will result in your reservation being cancelled.

If a cancellation is received seven days or more before the trip, then a full refund will be given. If a cancellation is received seven days or less to the start of the trip, and a replacement is found, then a full refund less a $5 processing fee will be given. If no replacement is found, no refund will be given. Special cancellation policies may apply if the trip involves the purchase of non-refundable tickets.
