Mondays, 2 - 4 p.m.

Pronounced "we", this home video game is a fun way to get together with your friends and play baseball, golf, bowling, etc. by using a hand-held remote and television screen. You'll get a little stretching exercise and a lot of fun when playing. After a little practice, you'll even be able to impress your kids and grandkids with your knowledge when they talk about their Wii! The game and flat-screen television are located in the Activity Room, lower level, at PSOP. For more information, call 618-234-4410, ext. 7016.

We pick up Linda and spend the day exploring the Great River Road. Be on the lookout for eagles, white pelicans and trumpeter swans as they feed near the dam or near the Audubon Visitor's Center. After an all-you-can-eat fried chicken dinner at Pere Marquette State Park, we finish our day with a leisurely drive along the river to spot more wildlife. Don't worry about the cold as we will view the birds from inside the coach! Cost is $81 per person. Pick-up point is the Schnucks on North Belt West at 8:30 a.m., then the Holiday Inn in Alton at 9:25 a.m. Return will be at about 3:30 p.m. in Alton and 4:30 p.m. in Belleville.

After lunch at the Sappington Barn Tearoom (yes, you can shop!), tour the Walter Knoll Florist for fresh flowers. After all the shopping, treat yourself to ice cream at Crown Candy Kitchen. Learn the history of the Irish immigrants in St. Louis. Visit three "Irish" churches (the Shrine of St. Joseph, St. John the Apostle and Evangelist and St. James the Greater Church). You will have time for shopping at Kerry Cottage and will be entertained by students from the Clarkson School of Irish Dance. Corned beef sandwiches and Irish stew will be served at Maggie O'Brien's restaurant. Cost is $87 per person. Pick-up point is the Schnucks on North Belt West at 8:25 a.m. Return will be at about 5:45 p.m.

Learn about the history of beef before and after Prohibition. Linda Koenig takes us to Schlafly Bottleworks and the "haunted" Lemp Mansion. Also, watch coffee beans be custom roasted to brew the perfect cup of Kaldi's Coffee. "Spice up" your day with a visit to Penzey's Spices and finish the day with a famous root beer float at Fitz's while watching the bottling process. Our lunch of salad, soup and turkey club sandwich is at Schlafly, the second largest brewery in St. Louis! Cost is $87 per person. We are making some changes to provide everyone with a fair opportunity to sign up for trips, avoid empty seats and keep trips affordable.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2014 - To make a reservation for a day trip, dial the extension listed with the trip description. The recording will ask you to give your name and phone number, the date and name of the trip, and the names of people you are making reservations for. You will then be given seven working days to complete the registration form in the PSOP newsletter and mail it or bring it to the Activities & Travel office along with your payment. Any payment not received within seven days will result in your reservation being cancelled.

If a cancellation is received seven days or more before the trip, then a full refund will be given. If a cancellation is received seven days or less to the start of the trip, and a replacement is found, then a full refund less a $5 processing fee will be given. If no replacement is found, no refund will be given. Special cancellation policies may apply if the trip involves the purchase of non-refundable tickets.
