Mondays, 2 - 4 p.m.

Pronounced "we", this home video game is a fun way to get together with your friends and play baseball, golf, bowling, etc. by using a hand-held remote and television screen. You'll get a little stretching exercise and a lot of fun when playing. After a little practice, you'll even be able to impress your kids and grandkids with your knowledge when they talk about their Wii! The game and flat-screen television are located in the Activity Room, lower level, at PSOP. For more information, call 618-234-4410, ext. 7016.

Linda Koenig takes us to the one time religious, governmental, and cultural centers of the LDS (Mormon) Church from 1839 to 1846. View the temple, blacksmith shop, gun shop, bakery, and much more. Afterwards we visit the oldest winery in Illinois for a sample. Cost is $89 per person. Pick-up point is the Schnuck's on North Belt West at 6:30 a.m. then the Alton Holiday Inn at 7:30 a.m. Return will be about 7:45 p.m. to Alton and 8:45 in Belleville.

What happens in Vegas...all started with THE RAT PACK. This spirited show recreates one of the famous "Summit at the Sands" nights when swingin', ring-a-ding group known as "THE RAT PACK" was creating hipster legend with a free-wheeling, no-holds-barred nightclub act starring Vegas' four favorite sons: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin and Joey Bishop. Cost is $97 and includes a show ticket, a wonderful lunch at the Fox Theatre before the matinee and motorcoach transportation. Pick-up is 11 a.m. at Schnuck's on North Belt West in Belleville.

We have a fascinating history tour of the "Alcatraz of the Midwest" - the Missouri State Penitentiary - which was used from 1836 until 2004 (yes, they have a small gift shop!). After lunch at Prison Brews Restaurant, we tour the brand new Missouri State Capital which was voted the "Most Beautiful Interior" of all 50 capitol buildings (make sure to look for sea creatures in the walls/floors as well as the many Thomas Hart Benton paintings). Betsy Murphy will be our guide today. Cost is $91 per person. Pick-up point is the Schnuck's on North Belt West at 7:15 a.m. Return will be about 7:30 p.m.

Join us for a beautiful evening as we walk along the gorgeous gardens to see everything aglow. Celebrating the garden's ongoing botanical research in China, 22 new sets crafted from silk and steel will once again offer visitors the opportunity to experience an event rarely staged outside of Asia. It's a sight you won't want to miss! Board the motor coach at 3:30 p.m. and go to your choice of restaurant for dinner on Grand (City Diner, The King and I or St. Louis Bread Co.) Dinner is on your own. We will make a quick stop at Tower Grove Creamery for homemade ice cream before heading off to the garden. Leave from West End Schnucks at 3:30 p.m. and arrive home at approximately 10 p.m. The cost of this trip is $50 and includes admission into the Botanical Gardens and motor coach transportation.

St. Louis is bursting with new microbreweries and we are going to explore them! Betsy Murphy has arranged a visit to Anheuser-Busch Brewery for a look into the world's bestselling beers. The next stop is Square One Brewery and Distillery for a brief tour and lunch. We finish our day at Four Hands Brewery, which prides itself for being the most unique brewery in the St. Louis area for the craft beer enthusiast. Cost is $77 per person. Pick-up point is the Schnucks on North Belt West at 8:45 a.m. Return will be at about 5 p.m. Deadline for reservations is June 25. No refunds after June 25 unless a replacement is found.

Edith unknowingly invites a mafia family into her home and Archie realizes he must do a "job" for the godfather or he may be sleeping with the fish! Come with us to Alton to laugh at this hilarious play and enjoy a lunch of chicken mudega and beef marsala along with salad, vegetable and dessert. After the show, our step-on-guide gives us a two-hour tour of the major historical sites of Alton and Godfrey. Pick-up point is the Schnucks on North Belt West at 10:30 a.m. Return will be at about 4:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn and 5:15 p.m. in Belleville. Price is $81 and the deadline for reservations is Aug. 1. No refunds after Aug. 1 unless a replacement is found.

We are making some changes to provide everyone with a fair opportunity to sign up for trips, avoid empty seats and keep trips affordable.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2014 - To make a reservation for a day trip, dial the extension listed with the trip description. The recording will ask you to give your name and phone number, the date and name of the trip, and the names of people you are making reservations for. You will then be given seven working days to complete the registration form in the PSOP newsletter and mail it or bring it to the Activities & Travel office along with your payment. Any payment not received within seven days will result in your reservation being cancelled.

If a cancellation is received seven days or more before the trip, then a full refund will be given. If a cancellation is received seven days or less to the start of the trip, and a replacement is found, then a full refund less a $5 processing fee will be given. If no replacement is found, no refund will be given. Special cancellation policies may apply if the trip involves the purchase of non-refundable tickets.
