New Cybersecurity Courses to Be Added in 2017

New 2017 Cybersecurity Courses

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs in information security will grow 18% in the next 10 years. To help keep up with the pace, Selsius™ Corporate & Career Training at Southwestern Illinois College has added three new cybersecurity boot camp courses to the spring 2017 schedule. These new courses include Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI), Certified Network Defender (CND) and EC-Council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA). All three cybersecurity courses will be held at the SWIC Belleville Campus.

Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator

CHFI is the process of detecting cyber attacks and then uncovering the proper evidence to report a crime. A CHFI investigator is also responsible for conducting audits to prevent future cyber attacks.

The CHFI course teaches participants how to excel in digital evidence acquisition and how to analyze data in a forensically sound manner. These skills will lead to successful prosecutions of criminal security incidents including data breaches, corporate espionage and insider threats.

Course Information

The CHFI is a 35-hour course and will be offered Jan. 9–13, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be offered a second time April 24–28, 2017. The cost of the course is $2,595. 

Certified Network Defender

CND is a hands-on course that covers different attack and defense technologies and examines different approaches taken by attackers. The course also explains the protect, detect and respond approach to network security and is designed to help organizations create a comprehensive cybersecurity defense plan.

Course Information

The CND is a 35-hour course and will be offered Feb. 27–March 3, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will be offered a second time April 3–7, 2017. The cost of the course is $2,495.

EC-Council Certified Security Analyst

The ECSA certificate is designed to enhance the skills of a penetration tester. The ECSA penetration testing course is a hands-on course that focuses on the EC-Council's penetration testing methodology.

Course Information

The ESCA is a 35-hour course and will be offered March 27-31, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost of the course is $2,895.
