High School Drafting Competition

More than 30 students from local high schools demonstrated their drafting skills in a competitive environment.

These students competed in the 37th annual Illinois Drafting Educators Association Regional High School Drafting Competition recently at the Southwestern Illinois College Belleville Campus.

“We’re proud to help put on this competition,” SWIC Drafting Program Coordinator Shauna Scribner, Ph.D., said. “It can help encourage future drafters to demand more of themselves as they move on into postsecondary education.”

Judges for the event came from regional architectural and engineering firms.

The winners were:

Introductory Board Drafting

  • First place: Nicholas Oglesby, Belleville West High School

Solids

  • First place: Katrina Osick, Belleville West High School
  • Second place: Heath Wentz, Belleville West High School

Introductory CAD

  • First place: Noah Carpenter, Freeburg High School
  • Second place: John Long, Belleville West High School

Machine CAD

  • First place: Katarine Milicevic, Belleville West High School
  • Second place: Alex Osick, Belleville West High School

Architectural 2D CAD

  • First place: Kyle Wallin, Belleville West High School
  • Second place: Alec Pallardy, Bellevile West High School

Assembly Modeling

  • First place: Keaton Cheffer, Belleville West High School
  • Second place: Alex Werner, Belleville West High School
