Groundwork Laid for Construction Career
The building blocks of Thomas Cox's construction career were laid at SWIC.
Cox, '91, formerly of Granite City, serves as construction field manager for Jacobs Engineering. He is overseeing, monitoring progress and ensuring quality and safety of site contractors involved in the construction of the new St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon.
Three years after earning his Associate in Applied Science degree in Construction Management Technology, he earned a second AAS degree in Computer Information Systems.
Today, Cox says he loves the work he's doing and the secure future his education was able to bring him. "By using the tools SWIC provided me, I am prepared for the opportunities and dynamic experiences this industry continues to provide. I enjoy working in the field and with the people in this environment. "
"Tom is a great example of what a SWIC education can do to help you build your career," said CMT Coordinator Jim Laing.
