The Southwestern Illinois College Board of Trustees
welcomed one new board member and bid a fond farewell to another. Newly elected
Trustee John Blomenkamp was sworn in at the May 1 Board of Trustees meeting to
replace Kenneth R. Joseph, who retired from the board after 22 years of service
to the college.
Blomenkamp, 50, will serve on the Board
of Trustees’ Planning and Policy committee.
He owns and operates a farm where he raises hay and has a
60-head cow/calf herd. He also owns a horse boarding service and a small

70 Board of Education for 12 years including four years as president. He also
served on the Freeburg Grade School Education Foundation.
He is a graduate of Freeburg High School and a 1986
graduate of then Belleville Area College with an Associate in Applied Science
degree in Administration of Justice. He graduated from the BAC Police Academy
Session in 1991.
and his wife, Deanna, live in Freeburg. He has two daughters, Kathryn and
Emilie Blomenkamp, and a stepson, Brock Schoenbeck (Whitney); plus two
grandchildren, Kaden and Oliver Schoenbeck.
