After his 32nd year as head coach of Southwestern Illinois College Men's Basketball, Jay Harrington's SWIC record is 651-385 (.628) and his career record is 734-427 (.632).
After reaching the Region XXIV semi-finals during the 2010-11 season, seven of Harrington's players moved on to continue their basketball careers at four-year institutions in Missouri, Georgia, and Illinois.
With two trips to the NJCAA National Tournament in the last five seasons, Coach Harrington's squads have been consistently ranked in the national polls. After compiling an outstanding 34-4 record, Harrington's squad finished sixth at the 2004-05 tournament. Thanks to his team's success, Harrington was honored with three Coach of the Year awards: Region XXIV, Great Rivers Athletic Conference, and the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Southern Region.

Since 1980, Harrington has served as the college's athletic director, and was also the chairman for NJCAA Division I basketball for 12 years.
He and his wife, Patti Woods Harrington, have two daughters: Megan, 25, and Morgan, 21.
