Volleyball team hosts Block Out Cancer night

The Southwestern Illinois College volleyball team will host a "Block Out Cancer" night Tuesday, Oct. 22 when they battle nationally ranked Lincoln Land Community College. The game will start at 6:30 p.m. in the SWIC Varsity Gym, 2500 Carlyle Ave., Belleville.

"Block Out Cancer" is a cancer fundraiser and awareness event. Admission to the match is free, although fans are encouraged to make a donation, purchase a pink Blue Storm T-shirt or buy a raffle ticket for a cancer ribbon quilt.

All donations from the night will benefit the Midwest region of the Young Survival Coalition. This organization is dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. All cancer survivors in attendance will be recognized and honored with a gift from the volleyball team.

"This will be a perfect night to bring your family or friends out and enjoy a great game for an even better cause," says Head Volleyball Coach Warren Thomas. "We all win when we support cancer awareness."
