Recycle your holiday lights at SWIC

2013-12-11

Go green this holiday season and recycle with Southwestern Illinois College! SWIC is helping community members recycle broken or unwanted strands of holiday lights.

SWIC invites the community to drop off strands of holiday lights at any of the three campuses. The drive also accepts extension cords, unneeded computer cables and other unwanted wiring. The college has partnered with St. Louis Green for this initiative, which will donate a portion of the proceeds from the drive to Operation Food Search.

The drop boxes are located at the following college locations:

  • Belleville Campus, 2500 Carlyle Ave.
Sustainability and Green Economy Center, Information Sciences Building Library
College Activities office, Main Complex Room 1246
  • Sam Wolf Granite City Campus, 4950 Maryville Road
    inside the main entrance
  • Red Bud Campus, 500 W. South Fourth St.inside the main entrance

Lights can be dropped off until Jan. 10, and the college will be closed from Dec. 21 through Jan. 1.
