Career Connections Online Jobs Database

Career Connections, the job placement system for SWIC, consists of an on-line database of full-time and part-time job openings and SWIC students who are seeking employment. Job seekers must register for a workshop in the Career Center. The job lead information is then available on-line from any computer with Internet access. Students may contact the employer if interested in the position.Students may also post their resume in the on-line database which can then be reviewed by employers.

Mock Interviews

The Career Activities & Employment Center staff offers practice interviews or consultation on interviewing techniques. Take a look at "How to Present a Positive Image" for interviewing tips.

On-Campus Recruiting

Throughout the school year, between four and six different companies each month are scheduled to come on campus and actively recruit students for positions within their companies. These On-Campus Recruitment Days provide an excellent opportunity for students to meet company representatives on a one-on-one basis and favorably influence their chances for employment.
A large poster is placed in the hallway on an easel outside the Career Activities & Employment Center and flyers are posted to the twelve bulletin boards throughout the college to notify students of dates and times of On-Campus Recruitment Days.

Companies recruit either through appointment and interview, reserving a private room for this method or company representatives staff a table in the hallway in the Main building. Interviews require an appointment and you may set up your appointment by calling the Career Activities & Employment Center at (618) 235-2700, ext. 5562. If a company chooses to utilize an open table, students need not make an appointment for them.

All students visiting with company representatives both for interviews or open table MUST have a resume and wear appropriate attire. For those students who have not yet completed a resume, our staff at the Career Center will be happy to assist you.
