Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a fee for this service?

As long as the school, group or organization is in SWIC's service area, it is free of charge.

If our group wants to make a donation, who do we send it to?

All donations are made to Southwestern Illinois College Foundation. You may send your check (donation) along with the speaker the day of the event or mail it to SWIC Foundation, 2500 Carlyle Ave., Belleville, IL 62221. The speaker can decide which Foundation fund the check will be used for, or you may decide where the donation will be used.

Will the speaker travel to us?

Yes, the speaker will come to your group or you may wish to have the presentation at any Southwestern Illinois College campus, Schmidt Art Center or Programs and Services for Older Persons (PSOP) site.

What counties does the service area include?

St. Clair County, Madison County, Monroe County and Randolph County. Find out if your city is in SWIC's service area.

What is the normal length of each presentation?

It varies with each talk, but most presentations will last about 20–40 minutes. Some are as long as an hour in length.

Will the speakers give their presentation on weekends or evenings?

It depends on the individual—but yes, some of the speakers will schedule talks on the weekends and in the evening.

How much advance notice is needed to request a speaker?

It would be great to have at least three weeks notice for speaking requests; however, it is not a requirement. Call or e-mail us at any time.
