WHAT IS ARTICULATION?
Articulation is a joint agreement between area high schools and Southwestern Illinois College to accept high school credits toward an associate in applied science degree. Southwestern Illinois College also has joint agreements with Illinois public universities to ensure that associate in applied science degree credits earned at Southwestern Illinois College will transfer to the universities.
Why Should I Get Articulated Credits?
- Your high school credit will apply toward a certificate or associate in applied science degree at Southwestern Illinois College.
- You will not have to duplicate courses you took in high school when you enter college.
- You will save time and money on your college education
How do I receive credit for the 2 + 2 Program?
You receive credit if you:
- Are a student at Southwestern Illinois College enrolled in an associate in applied science degree program through the 2 + 2 Program, and attended a high school with an articulation agreement in effect;
- Met grade requirements in the articulated high school course; and
- Graduated from high school in the last two years.
When do I receive credit?
Credit will appear on your record when:
- You meet high school requirements and pass a written and/or practical test, when required, at Southwestern Illinois College;
- You have met with a Southwestern Illinois College program coordinator to talk about your program; and
- You have completed 12 credit hours in your program of choice, plus complete the next highest course after the articulated course. (See list of articulation courses)
