What is Title III?
Title III is back at SWIC. But do you know what it means?
At SWIC, the phrase refers to the U.S. Education Department’s Strengthening Institutions Program – Development Grants, Planning Grants. Its nickname, Title III, comes from the Higher Education Act of 1965, where it’s cited in Title III, Section 311-315.
The program provides grants to help institutions of higher learning expand their capacity to serve low-income students and to strengthen the institution’s academic quality, fiscal stability and institutional management. In October 2007, SWIC received the first installment of $399,997 of the five-year grant that will total nearly $2 million.
"Through Title III-supported efforts of many faculty and staff, SWIC will be providing even better services to our students and community," Giordano said.
