View more information about a job title
Click on the job title for a full description of the position.
Apply for more than one job at a time
A separate application needs to be submitted for each individual position for which you wish to apply. Be sure to review your information before submitting each application as not all of your information carries over from one application to the next.
Partially complete application and finish later
You may complete parts of the application process and come back to it later. You must click the Save button to save the information you have entered. If you close your browser prior to clicking the Save button, your application data will be lost. Your account information will be saved.
Add formatted text to application
You may insert text containing special formatting including HTML, bullets and other characters into text fields on this system. Please note that pasting text containing bullets and certain characters including dashes and hyphens may be converted into question marks or other odd characters. If you experience formatting problems when pasting text, you may want to manually edit the information.
Attach resume, cover letter or other documents
The online application system supports common word processing software file types, as well as .pdf file types.
When you apply for a job, you will be asked to copy and paste a resume. However, some jobs may require you to upload a resume also. Please refer to the job posting to determine if a resume is required.
Once you’ve submitted your application, you may attach a cover letter or other attachments by going to the “My Career Tools” section. Select the Add Cover Letter/Attachment link. Click on the Add Attachment link. Select Attachment Type and Attachment Purpose. It is recommended that you include your name and the Job ID number or the position title on each attachment. If you will also upload a resume, select the Attachment Type “Other.”
Attached wrong document
You may change your attachments as long as that application has not been submitted. For cover letters and other attachments, you may revise or delete them at any time; however, once the search has begun, revisions may or may not be seen by the hiring committee.
Entering contact method in profile information
We recommend that the Preferred Method Contact field be left on the default value (Email) and that you provide a valid email address. SWIC sends notifications and other communications to applicants using the email address provided.
All applications must be submitted via the online application no later than 4 p.m. CST on the closing date for the position. Applications cannot be submitted after a closing date has passed. Application deadlines or review dates are on each job posting.
Receipt of my application
Once you submit your application, you will receive a confirmation email within a few hours. If you do not receive a confirmation email after a few hours, check your spam or junk folder. Some email accounts read generated emails as spam and filter them out of your inbox. Also, logging in to your SWIC Jobs site and clicking the My Career Tools link will display the status of the job for which you have just applied. The status will read Applied if you have successfully applied to the job posting.
Frequency of updating application packet
Every time you apply for a position, you should review your existing application. Many applicants prefer to tailor their resume, cover letter, application, etc. for each vacancy for which they apply. To update your application, simply customize the information as you apply for your next job.
Apply for no specific posted job vacancy
Southwestern Illinois College only accepts applications for open job postings. Prior to applying for a job, each prospective applicant can create a profile that will reduce the amount of data entry when you do actually apply for an open position.
Apply for a faculty position
If you are interested in a faculty position, please view current postings.
Check status of a position
Jobs are removed as they are filled or on the date specified in the Job Announcement. If a job is, or was, listed on our website, you are able to view the status of the recruitment process as Open, Under Review, Interviewing or Closed/Filled (if closed/filled within the last 60 days) by clicking the Status of Job Openings link on the Staff and Management Employment Opportunities page.
The department conducting the search will notify applicants if they are selected for an interview. The time varies depending on the department conducting the search.
They are generally checked after the interview process.
Consideration for other positions
You will only be considered for the position(s) for which you submit an application. If you would like to be considered for other available positions, you will need to submit your application for each position.
