In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, this skilled position is responsible for the coordination of support services offered by the IT Support Services Help Desk district-wide but primarily at Granite City. This position performs a broad range of duties within the highly technical field of information technology support. The technical support provided by this position includes developing, implementing and enforcing desktop security measures in accordance with established policies including creating and changing desktop passwords, anti-virus and security software patches and fixes and preventing or eliminating unauthorized desktop-based network resources, basic instruction on accessing services provided by SWIC’s network, diagnosing problems related to workstation and peripheral hardware and software, configuring, imaging and setting up PC and Macintosh workstations and implementing desktop security policies. Duties will involve interaction with the Director of IT Support Services, Director of Network Services, Network Manager, Instructional Services Coordinator, Computing Services Coordinator, the Campus Executive Director, Instruction at SWGCC, and Help Desk Technicians. Instructions and directions are received from the Director of IT Equipment and Licensing. Duties involve providing first-contact support for SWIC staff and selected instructional computer classrooms and labs via the Help Desk, dispatching help desk technician on service calls as well as performing service calls, installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting all hardware, peripherals and software, maintaining service call information and spare parts inventory on the Help Desk’s tracking database. Operating under the general direction of the Director of IT Equipment and Licensing, the Technical Services Coordinator assists with the overall coordination of services provided by the Help Desk, provides Saturday support coverage and works with administrators, faculty and staff to maintain a stable support environment. Individual must perform highly technical duties with considerable independence. This position is responsible for the supervision of Computer Support Technician SWGCC (PTEC-097). Regular work hours will vary based on prepared work schedules and include Monday thru Friday and Saturday. During peak work periods, extended hours of service may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate’s Degree in computer information systems or related discipline is required.
  2. Minimum three (3) years’ experience providing end-user support for computer workstations and related peripherals, software and network connectivity is required.
  3. Thorough working knowledge of major computer software including Windows and Internet browsers is required.
  4. Thorough understanding of desktop security principles and practices is required.
  5. Understanding of functional concepts involved in remote desktop support is required.
  6. Familiarity with remote desktop software is desired.
  7. Familiarity with network operating systems such as Windows is desired.

SALARY:

$45,291 annually, 37.5 hours per week.
