Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Reports to: Laboratory Supervisor
SUMMARY – Conducts standardized physical and chemical tests on materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Performs test and quality control procedures in accordance with standard test methods established by laboratory management.
• Reports test results to laboratory management in accordance with daily sample queues assigned by laboratory management.
• Proactively observes analytical results and quality control data to ensure that analytical processes are operated in an “in-control” condition.
• Informs supervision at detections of indicators of deviations from acceptable quality control criteria
• Participates in corrective / preventative actions when requested.
• Prepares samples and test materials for analytical processes.
• Maintains analytical equipment as necessary to ensure adequate operation.
• Responsible to ensure that work area is kept in a clean and organized manner.
• Any reasonable job-related request of management and supervision.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE – High School diploma/GED and 1-3 months’ related experience and/or training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS – Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Should be capable of creating reports and correspondence with word processing and spreadsheet software. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS – Ability to apply basic concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and any other mathematical function necessary to perform job duties.
REASONING ABILITY – Ability to form conclusions, judgments, and inferences from facts, premises or working memory. Ability to apply critical thinking to standardized situations where company precedent and or legal precedent apply. Ability to apply common sense to a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, climb, and lift and/or move objects of various weights.
WORK ENVIRONMENT – While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; pressurized gases; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock; vibration, and noise exposure.
