JOB SCOPE
Helps in the Park Department’s care and maintenance of the grounds, facilities, and equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Performs Park maintenance tasks, as directed. Tasks include mowing grass (parks and City of Belleville-owned properties), trimming grass, and raking leaves.
2. Performs ground duties as directed. Tasks include picking up refuse on Park grounds, emptying trash barrels, and sweeping and/or raking debris.
3. Preforms facilities maintenance, as directed. Tasks include cleaning public restrooms, restocking supplies, painting, cleaning tables and barbeque grills.
4. Preforms equipment maintenance, as directed. Tasks include washing trucks, cleaning and servicing mowers, cleaning weed eaters, checking gas and oil, and helping in service or installation.
5. May perform athletic field maintenance for soccer, softball, and baseball fields. Duties include mowing, dragging, lining, water removal, and raking.
6. Special Service Area tasks include picking up refuse, emptying refuse receptacles, cleaning benches, and mulching.
7. Assists full-time Parks employees as needed.
8. Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes good working relationships with residents, park visitors, co-workers, and supervisors.
9. Perform other related duties assigned by Supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. At least 16 years of age
2. Current Illinois driver’s license preferred
3. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff and the general public.
4. Ability to maintain a safe work habit and adhere to safety procedures.
5. Ability to perform manual labor outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
6. Must pass criminal background screening and adhere to Drug Free Workplace policy.
