Public Works Department (Mount Hope) (Walnut Hill)

$16.00 Per Hour

Job Summary:

Trims and mows grass in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Walnut Hill Cemetery and other locations as assigned. Works to beautify grounds in a professional manner, adhering to all safety regulations for self and others, and at all time positively represents the City of Belleville.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

• Operates & maintains a gas-operated weed-eater & blower.
• Operates & maintains a zero turn & push mower.
• Performs other grounds duties, including but not limited to picking up refuse, including litter & limbs, emptying trash barrels, sweeping &/or raking debris.
• Assists full-time Public Works employees as needed.
• Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving & communicating in a manner that promotes good work relationships with clients, customers, co-workers, & supervisors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• At least 16 years of age.
• Current valid Driver’s License preferred.
• Ability to maintain effective work relationships with staff & the general public.
• Ability to follow directions & adhere to safety procedures.
• Ability to do physical labor including digging, lifting, pulling, & hauling dirt & equipment.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods out of doors under adverse weather conditions.
• Must pass criminal background screening & adhere to Drug Free Workplace policy.
• Preference will be given to those with relevant experience.
