Walk through SWIC’s first 60 years in one session. The presentation will include information such as enrollment data and important dates in the school’s history.

SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS COLLEGE DUAL CREDIT PROGRAM

SWIC’s Dual Credit program allows high school students 16 years of age and older to earn high school and college credit simultaneously while attending the identified course in their high school classroom. The high school instructor meets the college’s minimum instructor requirements and the course is taught as a college level course. There is NO COST to the student and the high school for this program—a true win/win program.

This presentation will explore the role and impact of community colleges in the state of Illinois as well as the mission, work, and importance of Southwestern Illinois College to the region. The role of the Foundation as a service organization to SWIC and the students enrolled at the three campuses will also be discussed.

WHAT CAN TECHNICAL EDUCATION DO FOR YOU?

Learn how SWIC Technical Education can help students earn careers and teachers can give their students pathways to success even as state and federal education funding becomes less and less. The presenter will talk about the affordable programs offered at SWIC that can help students work toward an exciting future. The presentation will also offer ideas on how include technical education in math, science, English and other courses. Additionally, attendees get a new chance to build bridges with SWIC educators that can help both offer more opportunities to their students.
