Pre-Apprenticeship Training for the Construction Trades
Supported by the Illinois Works office of the
Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO)

SWIC Works is a nine-week training program aimed at preparing students for entry into trade union apprenticeship programs or entry-level positions in the construction industry.

Successful completers of the program will have received classroom and hands-on training in the proper operation of hand tools and power tools, construction math, blueprint reading, basic construction principles, critical thinking, and workplace ethics, among other topics.

Participants will receive industry certifications in OSHA Safety, First Aid, ATTSSA Flagger, Aerial/Scissor Lift, and Forklift Safety. Hourly financial stipends will be provided to those enrolled in the SWIC Works program. There will be two sessions for this training, one beginning in early June and another in mid-August.
