Red Bud Named Home of New BAC Southern Extension Center

Board of directors meet and vote unanimously to build a new BAC facility to serve students in the southern district of Illinois.

1983

Plans for Opening

Red Bud Center would sit on a 10-acre site of property owned by school district 132. Approximately 12,000 square feet. Built to handle the basic transfer courses and career business programs.

1984

Construction and Groundbreaking

Groundbreaking was held Monday, June 25, 1984. Among those attending, members of BAC admin staff, trustees, red bud city council district 132 board members and staff, architect, and contractor

1985

Opening and Classes

First student signs up for classes at Red Bud November, 1984, open for classes January 1985. Fall 1985 semester 128 day student, 188 night students.

1995

Red Bud Campus 10-Year Anniversary

Red Bud campus 10-year anniversary ceremony paid tribute to the original group of investors who, in 1984 raised the $1 million necessary to fund the construction of RBC.

2000

Phase II Building

A new 36,000 square-ft building constructed at RBC. Housing a new library, expanded academic program facilities, performing arts room and more. Completion for fall 2000. Opened May 2000.

2005

New Landscaping and Construction

A Friends Garden, including a concrete walkway connecting two sculptures with trees and flowers, located on the west side of RBC. Funding for the project came from individuals and businesses and serves students and community today by enhancing the campus.
