The Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for leading daily fabrication operations, ensuring that welding, cutting, forming, and assembly processes are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification. This role requires hands-on leadership, a strong technical understanding of fabrication methods, and the ability to manage and develop a team of skilled tradespeople.
The Fabrication Supervisor will drive productivity while maintaining high-quality standards, overseeing the flow of materials and projects through the fabrication department, and fostering a safe, collaborative, and results-driven work environment.
This work environment is dynamic and versatile in nature, requiring adaptability as daily tasks and priorities may shift with evolving project needs. The ability to pivot quickly and manage changing fabrication requirements is essential to success in this position.


• Lead, train, and supervise teams of welders, fabricators, and other skilled trade workers.
• Schedule and assign fabrication tasks to ensure on-time delivery and efficient workflow.
• Monitor craftsmanship and performance, providing coaching, feedback, and corrective action as needed.
• Foster a positive shop culture by modeling professionalism, teamwork, and effective communication.
• Oversee fabrication activities including welding, cutting, forming, grinding, and assembly to ensure adherence to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Coordinate closely with Engineering, Quality Control, and Project Management to resolve fabrication issues and meet production goals.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase throughput, reduce rework, and minimize waste.
• Conduct regular inspections of fabricated components and assemblies to ensure dimensional accuracy and structural integrity.
• Address and resolve any quality or material nonconformance issues promptly, following up on IQS reports as needed.
• Enforce safety practices in all fabrication operations through daily shop walks, job safety observations, and adherence to OSHA/ISO standards.
• Partner with the procurement team to ensure the availability of raw materials, consumables, and fabrication supplies.
• Optimize workforce and equipment utilization to reduce downtime and maximize shop productivity.
• Document and report incidents, near misses, or equipment issues and coordinate maintenance as required.
• Identify and escalate roadblocks or delays to Operations, Engineering, and Project Managers with recommended solutions.
• Ensure fabrication equipment (press brakes, welders, plasma tables, saws, etc.) is properly maintained and issues are escalated to the Operations Manager and Manufacturing Engineer.
• Support project teams by stepping in on the shop floor when needed to meet deadlines.
• Maintain job documentation and ensure fabrication records are accurate and ISO-compliant.
• Proactively notify Operations Manager of any manpower needs including outside labor, as needed.
• Partner closely with Operations Manager and Human Resources to ensure adherence to company policy and procedures.


Required Skills:
• High school diploma and a minimum of 3+ years fabrication experience in a production environment.
• 2+ years of prior supervisory experience.
• Completion of leadership and/or supervisory certifications.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to direct skilled tradespeople.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a focus on fabrication challenges.
• Ability to program or lean to program laser equipment.
• Ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
• Demonstrated organizational skills to efficiently execute job responsibilities in a timely and effective manner.
• Customer service skills to support internal/external customers with a “can-do” attitude.
• Must demonstrate a consistent and stable work history, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Welding Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in welding, metal fabrication, or assembly.
• Prior experience supervising fabrication operations in a custom manufacturing environment.
• Experience working on military or government contracts requiring strict quality compliance.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).


Physical Requirements:
• Sitting, standing, and walking in office, warehouse, and manufacturing environments.
• Must have the ability to hear and respond to auditory signals, distinguish tones and pitches in equipment, and use hearing protection during specific tasks.
• Ability to climb in and out of trailers, scaffolding and up ladders.
• Ability to bend, lift, and position self to move about the manufacturing floor and office, as needed.
• Must have the ability to hear and respond to auditory signals, distinguish tones and pitches in equipment, and use hearing protection during specific tasks.
• Required use of fingers and hands to operate a computer.
• Vision abilities required by this job include close and/or color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
• The role is primarily based on the shop floor, which may involve exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
• Requires standing for extended periods and the ability to lift and move materials, as needed.
• Occasional travel for various business initiatives and/or off-site product repairs.
