We are looking for two freelance sports reporters for the upcoming academic year to cover the Collinsville and Highland school districts.

Candidates should:

• Be a print, broadcast or marketing major with an emphasis in sports writing
• Be able to talk to coaches and players before or after games or the following day
• Be able to balance boys’ and girls’ sports
• Have a reliable vehicle to attend away games and to travel to championships/tournaments/finals as necessary
• Have their own camera equipment to shoot photos and videos + their own computer to send articles in for editing and publishing
• Be able to follow directions
• Work well with contacts who are of a different generation than their own
• Besides the pay (which our publisher negotiates), the person(s) would have their name, photos and stories in print weekly and on our website more often. We really hope to augment our sports coverage this year to cover more than Triad athletics. The candidates could also use the articles to create a portfolio to use as a springboard to future employment elsewhere.

We’d like them to start this month, as football practices are already underway and other fall sports are gearing up for their respective seasons.
