The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Clinical Laboratory Phlebotomist for the Chester Mental Health Center located in Chester, Illinois. Per physician’s orders, performs technical phlebotomy duties for a laboratory subject to the provisions of the Illinois Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act. Draws blood samples using the vacutainer blood collection system or syringes from patients per established specimen requirements. Processes blood samples. Enters orders received from units into both the state computer system and the reference laboratory’s internet program (4Medica) to generate specimen labels and requisitions to accompany the specimens. Maintains a clean and safe laboratory environment. Documents Stat/Critical labs when applicable on tracking form.

Essential Functions
• Per physician’s orders, performs technical phlebotomy duties for a laboratory subject to the provisions of the Illinois Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act for the Chester Mental Health Center.
• Enters orders received from units into both the state computer system and the reference laboratory’s internet program (4Medica) to generate specimen labels and requisitions to accompany the specimens.
• Maintains a clean and safe laboratory environment.
• Documents Stat/Critical labs when applicable on tracking form.
• Follows-up with e-mail and informs lab of incorrect ID numbers/change in demographics and makes appropriate corrections for forwards to supervisor.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Hours | Monday – Friday, 6:30am – 2:30pm; 30-minute unpaid
Pay/Wages | $3,935 – $5,254 per month
