The manager establishes clear standards, develops the team, and protects the independence of acceptance decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Direct and develop receiving inspectors, LPI inspectors, and floor inspectors; assign inspection work, set expectations, train and assess competence, and address performance through company processes.
• Oversee incoming, in-process, special-process, and final inspection and ensure inspections use current drawings, specifications, work instructions, and approved acceptance criteria.
• Maintain the ISO 9001 quality management system, including document control interfaces, internal audits, management review inputs, corrective action, risk-based improvement, and retention of objective evidence.
• Ensure inspection and test records are complete, traceable, and accurate; maintain status identification and protect product awaiting inspection or disposition.
• Control nonconforming material, containment, rework, and disposition workflows; ensure deviations or concessions receive required internal and customer authorization before use or release.
• Oversee LPI program controls, personnel qualification and certification records, process documentation, and required verification in accordance with applicable customer and company requirements.
• Manage inspection equipment, calibration status, measurement methods, and gauge control; coordinate external calibration or testing when needed.
• Review customer, contractual, drawing, and applicable military or industry quality requirements and translate them into inspection plans and clear team instructions.
• Lead investigation of escapes, complaints, audit findings, and repeat defects; coordinate root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and effectiveness checks with process owners.
• Partner with Procurement on supplier quality and receiving issues; with Engineering on technical interpretation and changes; and with Production on prevention and timely inspection support.
• Coordinate required customer and DCMA reviews, inspections, and acceptance activities; ensure product is not represented as accepted before required approvals are complete.
• Report quality performance, backlog, trends, systemic risks, and resource needs to leadership; recommend department structure, staffing, training, and process improvements.
• Stop release or escalate work when product conformity, traceability, or safety cannot be verified. Perform other related duties as assigned.
