Chemistry Prerequisite - Southwestern Illinois College

Proof of Completion of Prerequisite Courses

Chemistry

  • One year high school or one semester college (College chemistry must equate with SWIC’s CHEM 101, 103, 105 or 106.)
  • Students completing prerequisite courses from a high school not recognized by the State Board of Education or home schooled students may demonstrate competency of the chemistry requirement by taking a proficiency test. Questions regarding proficiency testing can be addressed by our admissions reviewer, 618-235-2700, ext. 5455.

High school students:

Plan to complete chemistry before the senior year of high school.

If chemistry was not completed in high school or was completed beyond the required time limits plan to complete no later than the fall semester preceding potential program admission.

Prerequisites MUST be completed by these time frames to be considered for admission in programs that have more applicants than seats available. Enrollment in the spring semester or completion of coursework in the senior year of high school is too late for the admission process.
