Core Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Instruction: Design, plan, and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote children’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. This often involves using play, storytelling, games, and creative arts to teach foundational skills like numbers, letters, colors, and problem-solving.
Child Supervision and Safety: Ensure the constant safety and well-being of all children in the classroom and on the playground. This includes maintaining a clean, organized, and secure environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Assessment and Observation: Monitor and document each child’s progress and development through observation and formal assessments. Use this information to adapt teaching methods and provide individualized support or early intervention for special needs as required.
Classroom Management: Establish and enforce positive rules and routines to maintain an orderly and respectful classroom environment. This involves using positive discipline techniques and modeling appropriate social behaviors.
Parent and Family Communication: Maintain open and cooperative communication with parents and families, discussing children’s progress, behavior, and developmental needs through daily interactions, newsletters, and parent-teacher conferences.
Basic Care Needs: Assist children with daily living skills, including eating, dressing, diapering or toileting, and other hygiene routines.
Collaboration and Professional Development: Work effectively with assistant teachers, colleagues, and other professionals (e.g., therapists, administrators) to create a cohesive educational program. Participate in ongoing professional development, workshops, and staff meetings to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
Hours | 8:00am – 4:30pm
Pay/Wages | $35,000 – $42,000 Annually
