POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides temporary assistance in maintaining park grounds, buildings, structures and facilities that are under the jurisdiction of the Parks and Recreation Department

• Hourly Rate: $17.50
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Age: Must be 16+
• 40 hours per week ( Monday – Friday 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m./ 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. with some weekends)
• Position open until filled

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Mowing, trimming, weeding, watering and other duties as assigned for the maintenance and improvement of park grounds and other areas assigned.
• Cleaning, trash and litter removal and recycling of materials collected at park grounds, buildings or other sites as assigned.
• Sanding, painting, cleaning and maintenance of buildings, properties or equipment.
• Conduct manual digging, grading, balding, raking, planting, trimming, mulching and other duties related to landscaping as assigned. 
• Driving, hauling and operating motorized vehicles and equipment used in the daily maintenance operation as needed.
• Assumes other responsibilities as apparent and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must possess valid Illinois driver’s license.
• Prior experience in the area of grounds maintenance preferred.
• General knowledge of operation of mowing equipment, tools and equipment related to general maintenance of grounds.
• Physical and mental ability to safely carry out general maintenance duties relative to normal grounds and building care and repair, construction, demolition and renovation of grounds, buildings, equipment and park related structures.
• Physical ability to lift or carry objects weighting 50-100 pounds
• Physical ability to drive motorized vehicles and park equipment, operate mowing, grading, plowing trimming and other motorized or manual type maintenance equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to walk, stand or sit for an hour or more at a time
• Ability to work in extreme summer and winter weather conditions.
