Admissions

Visiting Student Enrollment

Students who are currently enrolled at another college and wish to attend Southwestern Illinois College for the semester should complete the following steps:

  1. Coordinate with your current college advisor

Speak with your current college advisor regarding the specific Southwestern class(es) your current college will accept. It is your responsibility to confirm the transferability of any courses taken at Southwestern. If your current advisor needs any Southwestern course descriptions to determine transferability, please use the Browse Catalog feature in eSTORM.

If you experience any difficulties finding a course description, please email us at admissions@swic.edu.

  2. Provide an unoffical copy of your transcripts or grade cards to a SWIC Counseling Center

If the course you wish to take with us carries prerequisites, you must submit documentation showing that you have met those prerequisites from your previous college coursework. You can do this by providing one of our Counseling Centers an unofficial copy of your transcripts (which lists your full name and college name) or grade card showing the prerequisite course and grade received. Once the proper documentation has been received, a course certification will be written and submitted to the Enrollment Services Office.

To FAX your documentation to our Counseling Center:

You must provide the following information on your fax cover sheet: full name, Social Security number, course name and number you wish to take at SWIC, and a current phone number and/or e-mail address. Please contact Counseling at 618-235-2700, ext. 5206, to verify receipt of your documentation. Fax the requested information to:

    Dr. Linda Cowden
    Fax: 618-222-1370

To MAIL your documentation to our Counseling Center:

You must provide the following information in a letter: full name, social security number, course name and number you wish to take at SWIC, and a current phone number and/or email address. Please mail the information to:

    Southwestern Illinois College
    ATTN: Dr. Linda Cowden
    2500 Carlyle Avenue
    Belleville, IL 62221-5899

To submit your documentation IN PERSON:

Visit any of our campus Counseling Centers located at Belleville Campus (room 1115, Information Sciences Building), Sam Wolf Granite City Campus (room 400), or Red Bud Campus (room 175).

  3. Submit a New Student Information Form to the SWIC Admissions & Records Office

If you have not taken courses with Southwestern in the past, you will need to submit a (one-time) New Student Information Form. This form can be completed online via our Web site.

You can fax your New Student Information Form to our Enrollment Services Office at 618-222-9768 or you can bring it by any of our campuses during regular business hours.

If you have taken courses with us before, your previous application will still be on file with us and you will not need to submit another one.

  4. If you have additional questions...

If you have any questions about the above process or submission of your New Student Information form, please contact the Enrollment Services Office at 618-235-2700 ext. 5444 or 5497 or email us at admissions@swic.edu.

If you have any questions regarding submitting your unofficial transcripts, the status of your course certification, or prerequisites, please contact our Counseling Center at 618-235-2700 ext. 5206.
