Role Description
This is a part-time on-site Teacher Assistant/After School Teacher role at Zion Lutheran School in Belleville, IL. The Teacher Assistant/After School Teacher will be responsible for working with children, assisting the lead teacher, communicating with staff, and supporting the educational activities of the classroom. Several positions are available.
Qualifications
• Assistant Teaching and Education skills
• Strong Communication skills
• Experience working with children, preferably in a classroom setting
• Strong love of Jesus and passion for sharing his love with children
• Ability to work collaboratively with lead teacher and other staff members
Additional Qualifications: (some of which are completed during hiring process)
• Must be 19 years of age
• Background check, including fingerprinting
• Provide a cover letter and appropriate supportive documentation
• Provide a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED)
• Complete a total of 12 annual Early Childhood training provided by the teachers
• A signed statement that acknowledges the employee’s status as a mandated reporter of suspected child abuse and/or neglect
• Three written character references
• Physical examination completed no more than 6 months prior to employment that provides evidence that they are free of communicable disease, including a test for tuberculosis using the Mantoux method resulting in a negative result and physical or mental conditions that could affect their ability to perform assigned duties
• Proof of MMR
• Must be a member of Gateways to Opportunity Registry

Hours | Part-time-Less than 20 hours per week
Pay/Wages | $15.00/hr.
