    Voice mail at SWIC

    Southwestern Illinois College’s voice mail system was designed to help you increase your productivity, and it’s easy to use. With voice mail, your calls will always be answered.

    Accessing your Voice Mailbox

    Logging in means accessing your mailbox in the Voice Messaging system so that you can play your messages and use all the other Voice Messaging features.  You can log in from any touch tone phone.  When you are away from your own phone, you can access your mailbox from any other touch tone phone.

    To log in from your own campus desk phone

    1. Press your message button or dial the voice messaging access number – 5995.
    2. Enter your password, then press “#”.
    3. You hear the mailbox summary.

    To log in from another phone on campus

    1. To access voicemail you must first call the voicemail access number. When on campus, press the message button or dial the voice messaging access number – 5995.
    2. If it’s not your extension press *. You hear a prompt asking you to enter your mailbox number.
    3. Enter your mailbox number, and then press “#”.
    4. Enter your password, and then press “#”.
    5. You hear the mailbox summary.

    To log in off campus

    1. From any touch tone phone off-campus, dial 618-235-2700 followed by the Voice Messaging access number – 5995 or dial directly 618-641-5995.
    2. Press “#”. You will hear a prompt asking you to enter your mailbox number.
    3. Enter your mailbox number, and then press “#”.
    4. Enter your password, and then press “#”.
    5. You hear the mailbox summary.

    Playing your messages

    Your phone may have a message-waiting light to indicate new messages. When you play your messages, new messages play first, followed by previously played messages.

    1. After logging in, listen to the mailbox summary.
    2. You hear the number of new messages you have, and number of messages in other categories.
    3. Press 1 to review new messages.
    4. The message plays.

    Deleting a message while listening

    You have the ability to delete a message without listening to it in its entirety.

    1. While the message or its envelope is playing, dial 33 to skip ahead to the end of the message.
    2. Dial 7, to delete the message.
    3. Dial 9, to confirm that you want to delete the message.
