Velocity Metalworks is seeking an experienced manufacturing professional to serve as the primary business contact for our most important customers. This is not a customer service or order entry position. It is a strategic account management role responsible for strengthening customer relationships, coordinating internal execution, improving communication, and growing business within existing accounts.
The successful candidate will become the trusted liaison between our customers and our operations team while partnering closely with executive leadership to ensure Velocity continues to be viewed as a world-class manufacturing partner.

What You’ll Own
You will manage approximately 40 strategic customer accounts representing the majority of Velocity’s revenue. Your responsibilities include:

Strategic Account Management

  • Build executive-level relationships with purchasing, engineering, operations, and supply chain leaders.
  • Develop annual account growth strategies for assigned customers.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Velocity’s share of business through fabrication, stamping, tooling, assemblies, and value-added services.
  • Coordinate quote follow-up and opportunity development with Sales and Estimating.
    Customer Communication & Program Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the customer lifecycle.
  • Manage customer purchase order entry and order administration.
  • Coordinate production status, schedule changes, and delivery commitments.
  • Provide proactive communication regarding production, quality, and delivery.
  • Resolve customer concerns by coordinating with Operations, Planning, Quality, and Production.

Operations Partnership

  • Work daily with Production Planning, Scheduling, Operations, Quality, and Shipping to ensure customer commitments are achieved.
  • Drive internal accountability around customer priorities.
  • Escalate risks early and coordinate recovery plans when necessary.

Executive Customer Reviews
Organize and lead annual or semi-annual business reviews with key customers involving Operations, Executive Leadership, and Company Ownership.
Present performance including:

  • Revenue trends
  • On-time delivery performance
  • Quality performance
  • Responsiveness metrics
  • Continuous improvement initiatives
  • Capacity planning
  • Growth opportunities
  • Strategic initiatives
  • Annual action plans

Required Experience
This position requires prior experience managing customer relationships within a manufacturing environment. Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing account management, program management, customer account management, OEM customer support, or industrial inside sales.
  • Demonstrated success managing strategic customer relationships.
  • Experience working directly with production planning, scheduling, operations, quality, and manufacturing leadership.
  • Experience coordinating customer orders from receipt through shipment.
  • Strong understanding of ERP systems and manufacturing workflows.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple customer priorities while maintaining exceptional responsiveness.
  • Excellent verbal communication, presentation, and executive-level relationship-building skills.

Preferred Experience
Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Metal fabrication
  • Metal stamping
  • Contract manufacturing
  • Precision machining
  • Industrial manufacturing
  • OEM supplier management
    • Experience supporting customers with annual business reviews, KPI reporting, and operational performance metrics is highly desirable.
