Taking a class at a SWIC campus or online while still in High School
Students can enroll for dual enrollment courses if the following requirements are met:
- Students must be 16 years of age or older by the last meeting day of the course.
- Students must be otherwise qualified in order to benefit academically and socially from the
college experience. - Classes must be approved by a high school principal or counselor, as well as a parent or guardian. Form must be signed by both parties.
- Students may enroll only in course(s) authorized on this form.
- Students must present the completed “SCHOOL PERMISSION” portion (see below) at the
time of registration. - Student must meet the minimum placement scores for particular courses as stated in the college catalog.
- Individual consultation with your high school counselor and/or a Southwestern Illinois College Academic Advisor to assess the transferability and/or other implications of college credit earned through dual enrollment coursework is strongly recommended.
To register for a class as a dual enrolled student, complete the steps to enrollment. The permission form below must be signed and returned to an academic advisor or by email to enrollmentservices@swic.edu.
