Becky Kane began teaching at Kings Point in 1995 as one of the original instructors when the club opened and again from the end of 2015 thru August 2021.
As a former top area player and #1 singles & doubles player for Division 1 Marquette University, Becky brings many years of competitive and teaching experience to both younger players just developing a love for the game as well as more advanced players who are passionate about tennis. Before becoming the coach at SWIC, Becky has coached Jr. Team Tennis along with the Girls’ Tennis Team at Gibault.
In high school, Becky was the first female in southern IL to reach the State singles quarterfinals during her senior season in 1990, losing to the eventual IL State Champion. She is a graduate of Althoff Catholic, where she played #1 all four years and won more than 100 matches just like her older sister had done four years earlier.
As a freshman at Marquette, Becky helped to lead her team to the Great Midwest Conference Championship in 1992 by winning her flight in both singles and doubles. She earned All-Academic honors throughout her collegiate career, was named Great Midwest Conference Newcomer of the Year in 1992, Marquette’s Most Valuable Player in 1993 and was voted Women’s Tennis “Hardest Worker” 3 out of 4 years by her teammates and coach.
As a scholarship athlete, Becky earned a business degree and worked for 20 years in the financial field in Milwaukee before she returned to her hometown roots at the end of 2015. Her mission is to help students navigate the path of being a successful student athlete as they pursue their studies and participate in a sport with teammates that can be played and enjoyed for life.
