Jonathan Denney

Coach Jonathan Denney brings over 25 years of experience to the coaching staff. He spent 9 years as a boys’ varsity assistant coach (Livingston High School and Civic Memorial High School) and spent 13 years developing the Civic Memorial (Bethalto, IL) girls basketball program into one of the top programs in the state of Illinois. Coach Denney’s teams were the most successful teams in Civic Memorial school history. His teams won 7 regional titles, 2 sectional titles, 7 conference titles, and 2 Elite 8 appearances. Coach Denney left Civic Memorial as the all-time leader in wins with a record of 300-120. In 2018 he began the Southern Illinois Hawks/Blue Star AAU organization that includes 12u through 17u teams. His teams travel all over competing in some of the best showcase tournament events in the country, while preparing for and sending players to the next level.

Coach Denney graduated with an Associate’s degree from SWIC. He played two years for hall of fame coach Jay Harrington and was an Academic All American. He finished his academic and basketball career at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration. He and his wife, Karrie, have a daughter (Kaitlyn) and twin sons (Kameron and Kaleb).

Greg Knolhoff- Assistant Coach

Coach Knolhoff was born and raised in Belleville  and is a 1974 graduate of Belleville West and 1977 graduate of Belleville Area College (now Southwestern Illinois College). Greg has 42 years of basketball coaching experience including West Jr High, Belleville East High School, Althoff Catholic High School and currently coaching with the defending 4A State Champions, O’Fallon High School Lady Panthers.

Greg has been married for 40 years to his wife Kim and has two sons, Nick and Brett and four grandchildren; Christian, Braxton, Blair and Beau.
