Need-based Financial Aid - Southwestern Illinois College

Financial Need is determined by this formula:

Cost of Attendance – Expected Family Contribution (EFC) = Financial Need

The Cost of Attendance at Southwestern Illinois College for a full-time student during the nine-month school year is determined by the costs below. The U.S. Department of Education calculates your EFC from the information you submitted on your FAFSA. The difference between the cost of going to college and your expected family contribution is your financial need. You will not be billed this amount by the college. This figure is used to determine your eligibility for financial aid.

For the 2023-24 academic year, costs are estimated as follows for a full-time student:

  3. Books, supplies, and course fees will vary based on the specific courses that students are taking. Students should consult the Class Schedule and billing statements found in eSTORM for specific costs.

  5. The student’s cost of attendance budget is the maximum financial aid assistance a student can receive. Financial aid includes grants, loans, work-study, scholarships, and tuition waivers. Students are notified of their financial aid eligibility through their SWIC student e-mail.
