There are dates for each semester in which students can use their financial aid to pay for tuition and books. When all outstanding SWIC balances have been paid, excess funds are disbursed to the student by direct deposit or paper check.

Books & Census

Students may use their funds to purchase required books and supplies at the campus bookstore beginning one week prior to the start of the term and two weeks after classes start. The summer semester allows for two weeks – one week prior and one week after classes start.

Financial aid awards will be adjusted as students make changes to their schedule or program until the census date. After the census date has passed, classes added to the schedule will not be awarded Pell grant. The census date occurs at the end of the second week of classes for the fall and spring semesters. The summer semester census date occurs at the end of the first week. Note that 10% drop fees may be accrued during the census period. Be aware of the 90% drop dates for each class.

Disbursements

Disbursements are made in the 6th week of class during the fall and spring semesters and the 3rd week for summer. Disbursement is when pending financial aid pays charges due. After the first disbursement date of the term, disbursements happen every Tuesday as aid is awarded or adjusted. Refunds are issued to student through direct deposit or paper check within 14 days of disbursement.
