Athletic Director and Head Coach Michael Juenger

This is Coach Juenger’s sixth season as the coach for Blue Storm Softball.  Mike is a seasoned veteran with Blue Storm Athletics. He finished his 21st season as head coach of the Southwestern Illinois College women’s basketball team in 2016-17 completing his basketball coaching tenure with 382 wins and 246 losses. Juenger’s best season at SWIC came in the 1999-2000 season, when the Blue Storm women’s basketball team placed second at the NJCAA Tournament. At that time, his squad set the school record for most victories in a season with 33.  Juenger was named the Region XXIV Coach of the Year and WBCA Region IV Coach of the Year. A graduate of Belleville West High School and McKendree College, Juenger  was a member of then Belleville Area College’s 1987-1988 men’s basketball team that finished fourth in the nation. He later transferred to McKendree on a baseball scholarship. Prior to the women’s head coaching position, he served as the assistant men’s basketball coach for six seasons.  In addition to his coaching duties, Coach Juenger is the Athletic Director at SWIC.

Assistant Coach Jeff Juenger

Coach Jeff Juenger was a member of the Belleville Stallions Illinois Men’s Class A Fast Pitch State Champions in 1996.  His 22 year fast pitch career started as a teen boys fast pitch league in Belleville, Illinois.  He moved to the men’s level in college playing in the Belleville City League and also playing on the Firecats Friday night Church League team.  He played for Frank Brake Service, Hank’s Excavating, and the Belleville Stallions in the Belleville City League.  He was named Honorable Mention Class A All State 3rd baseman in 1996, Class B All State Utility Player in 1998 and Class B All State Pitcher in 1999.  He spent 7 years coaching volleyball at Southwestern Illinois College which included 3 National Tournament appearances both on the NJCAA division 1 level and also on the NJCAA division 2 level.  His 2007-08 team finished with a 36-9 and a 3rd place finish at the Division 2 National Tournament.  He is married to his wife Kathy and has 3 adult children.
